Dermatologic Surgery is a specialized discipline within the medical specialty of Dermatology. Physicians trained in dermatology are trained in cutaneous surgery, including how to manage skin cancers, how to use laser and other modalities for skin diseases, and cosmetic enhancement. Dermatologic surgeons obtain extra training through fellowships in specialized surgery techniques for treating skin cancers, such as Mohs Surgery, reconstructive surgery and cosmetic procedures such as hair transplantation, tattoo removal, and cosmetic laser procedures.
At the UW Dermatologic Surgery we offer our patients the advantage of surgeons and staff who are are the cutting edge of clinical and scientific research into skin treatment and skin surgery techniques. The University of Washington Division of Dermatology is an educational center for dermatologists, residents and medical students and other health care providers and trainees throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Dermatologic Surgery program shares the mission of the division to provide outstanding patient care, train and mentor future leaders in dermatology, and advance dermatological knowledge. This is part of what makes dermatologic surgery here one of the top places to receive care in the Pacific Northwest.
