Facial Rejuvenation Non-surgical facial rejuvenation refers to procedures or interventions that do not require actual surgery. Procedures using lasers are discussed under laser surgery. Chemical peels may also fall into this category. Specifically, however, this term is usually used to refer to treatments with topical agents (creams), or injectable products. For example, tretinoin (a prescription cream) may be effective in reducing some signs of skin aging such as brown sun spots or fine wrinkles. Reduction in facial lines is also possible using injectable products such as collagen or Botox ® (botulinum toxin). Collagen is an injectable material that can be placed beneath a scar or wrinkle line to diminish the visibility of the scar or wrinkle. It has been available for a number of years for this purpose.
