Our Approach:

At the UW, we believe that no one should feel they have to change the way they look. But, we also believe that you can choose to restore a feature that time has altered, or reduce the signs of aging.

All cosmetic procedures at the University of Washington are approached as any medical procedure, in which attention to detail and informed patients are very important. The procedures themselves are carried out by Dr. Berg himself or registered nurses with dermatology specialization.  It is our policy to provide you with medically sound and realistic information about whichever procedures you are considering.

What we offer:

Laser hair removal

Lasers have been available for hair removal and reduction for nearly two decades and have proven to be a safe and reliable solution for many people, trying to reduce unwanted hair.

Lasers are an excellent option  for treatment of unwanted facial hair, armpit hair and bikini-line hair.  Other areas may also be treated successfully. Lasers at the UW Dermatology Clinic allow for treatment of a wide variety of skin tones. It is important to know that hair removal lasers only work on dark-colored hair (ideally dark brown or black).

Tattoo Removal

Modern lasers allow us to remove or substantially reduce many tattoo inks with minimal risk of scarring.  The Q-switched Nd-Yag laser, used at the UW dermatologic surgery clinic, uses light energy to remove or reduce tattoo ink.  Several treatments are usually needed for maximal lightening.  Complete disappearance may not be possible depending on color and type of tattoo but Dr Berg will discuss your expected results at your individual consultation.

Laser and Intense Pulsed Light reduction of broken blood vessels and sun freckles

The pulsed dye laser was designed to improve a variety of benign vascular (red) lesions on the surface of the skin. The laser sends a pulse of light to the skin, which causes specific reduction of the targeted vessel.  Intense Pulsed Light is also used for treatment of blood vessels and can also reduce sun freckling.
