ISCRM

ISCRM Flow Cytometry Core

Our mission is to provide state of the art instrumentation and technical expertise to facilitate investigators in performing quality data analysis and cell sorting. We support research faculty at University of Washington South Lake Union Campus. The facility is part of the Institute for Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine (ISCRM) Core lab group. We also provide service to investigators from main campus and surrounding institutes.

The facility is managed by Jeff Boyd who has worked at the main campus Cell Analysis Facility as an operator and previously at Harborview performing flow cytometry based clinical studies.

What is Flow Cytometry?

Flow Cytometry measures the physical and chemical characteristics of cells or particles as they flow past a laser light. Information about the cells is collected by a series of detectors and analyzed.

Cell sorting involves physically separating a specific cell population from the remaining particles in suspension for the purpose of performing further experimental procedures on these purified cells.
