For those students completing a master’s thesis, much of the first year will be spent defining their thesis topic, determining their committee and advisor, and perhaps beginning their research. The second year is spent conducting more research and writing the thesis. At the end of the second year, students present their thesis to their committees and the school at large.

ProQuest formatting requirements

The UW Graduate School has recently changed to Electronic Theses/Dissertations (ETDs) rather than paper copies.  Due to this change students must now follow the formatting guidelines in the ProQuest Dissertation Publishing-Author Guide: Preparing Your Manuscript for Submission.
