Welcome to the Office for Research and New Initiatives
The University of Washington School of Pharmacy is dedicated to strategic and pioneering research in
basic science, translational science, and clinical science, and to pharmaceutical health outcomes and policy leading to
understanding about drug action and disposition and innovative drug products. Some of these innovations have
led to effective clinical practices and public health policies that improve human healthcare.
Under the leadership of Associate
Dean Rodney Ho, the Office for Research and New Initiatives supports interdisciplinary and innovative
approaches to healthcare that promote collaboration, diversity of thought,
and mutual respect. The Office supports and conducts research and
provides graduate education in drug discovery, disposition, pharmacokinetics,
drug metabolism, drug-drug interaction and drug development, and in pharmaceutical
outcomes research to improve decision-making regarding pharmaceutical
therapy and policy. Thanks to the outstanding faculty
and their noted research,
the School of Pharmacy is honored to be ranked #1 in NIH-supported research funding
awarded to individual researchers.
The educational aims of the Office involve providing graduate education and training in the areas of
Pharmaceutics, Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacy. In addition, the Office has pioneered a unique PharmD/PhD concurrent degree program that allows students to pursue
professional Pharm.D. degree in combination with a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry or Pharmaceutics.
We welcome your inquiries, comments, or
potential area of collaboration including (but not limited to) our ongoing
