Opportunities for Students
On-Campus Activities
Tertulias
The tertulias, organized by the Center
for Spanish Studies, are a great opportunity for anyone wanting
to practice their spoken Spanish. During these 50-minute sessions,
students, staff, and faculty of all levels get together to informally
chat.

On-Campus Resources
Tutoring
The CLUE Center, located in Mary Gates Hall, offers drop-in tutoring
in Spanish on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm. For

El Taller de Redacción
The Division of Spanish & Portuguese Studies offers a writing
workshop to help students in the 300-level language courses improve their writing skills.

The Center for Spanish Studies
Located in Padelford Hall B-202C on the University of Washington
Seattle Campus, the Center for Spanish Studies promotes the study
of the Spanish language, as well as the understanding of the cultures
that use this language. The center is open to the public, and their
resources include literature, reference books, textbooks, movies,
music, and children's books- all in Spanish. In addition, they also
organize several activities and programs throughout the year. For

The Aula Cervantes of Seattle
Located in Padelford Hall C-224 on the University of Washington
Seattle Campus, the Aula Cervantes of Seattle offers a wide selection
of teaching programs that are open to both students and professionals.
Opportunities include preparation for the Diploma of Spanish as
a Foreign Language (DELE) and the Spanish Virtual Classroom (AVE),
as well as other training courses. For more information, please

Grants
The Mary Gates Endowment
Every year, the Mary Gates Endowment awards Research, Leadership, Venture, and Honors scholarships
to hundreds of University of Washington students. These scholarships give students the
opportunity to engage in activities outside the classroom, thereby enhancing their

Experiential Learning
