Spanish and Portuguese Studies - University of Washington
  Study Abroad Overview

The Division of Spanish and Portuguese Studies offers four departmental study abroad opportunities: a semester or year-long program in Cádiz, Spain for advanced students, a Fall Quarter program in Oaxaca, Mexico for students at the intermediate level, a Spring Quarter program in León, Spain for students at the beginning level, and a Summer C-term program in Quito, Ecuador. For more information regarding any of these programs, please click on the appropriate link to the right.

If you are not studying abroad on one of these four programs, please see an Adviser for credit pre-approval. You should see Lani Phillips (spanport@u.washington.edu) for beginning and intermediate (100/200) level programs, and Suzanna Martínez (spsadv@u.washington.edu) if you will be pursuing 300/400-level coursework. Please also note that credit is granted for work done at a foreign university or through another US university or college only. Credit is not granted for work done at language schools/institutes.

Students who had concurrent enrollment at the UW while abroad need to meet with an IPE Adviser upon their return before credits can be processed (Schmitz Hall 459). They then meet with a Spanish Adviser to process the transfer of credits. Students unable to see a Spanish Adviser may drop the Credit Evaluation form and transcripts from abroad in Suzanna's or Lani's inbox in the Spanish and Portuguese Main Office, Padelford Hall C-104. They will process the credits and send the Credit Evaluation form back to IPE directly.
