the Bus |

There
is excellent bus
service to and from the University District. We are
served by a number of major bus routes. Metro has
a 24-hour Rider Information Line: 206-553-3000 (TTY Users:
206-684-1739). If you are not in an area currently served
by Metro, Community
Transit (1-800-562-1375) may have routes servicing
your area. |

Speech and Hearing Clinic is located on the west side
of the University of Washington campus at 4131 15th Avenue
NE, and is in the School of Social Work/Speech and Hearing
building. Please refer to the attached map of the North
Central section of the UW campus, showing the location
of the Social Work/Speech and Hearing Clinic. |

From I-5
-- Take NE 45th/50 Street Exit
-- Go East on NE 45th Street
-- Turn right onto 15th Avenue NE traveling south
-- Our building is located between NE 42nd and NE 41st Street on
the right. It is a red brick building with the front entrance located
on 15th Avenue, in the middle of the block |

-- Take the Montlake exit
-- Cross over the Montlake Bridge going north.
-- Stay in the left lane
-- Turn left at the stop light onto NE Pacific Street
-- Travel west on NE Pacific Street, make a right onto 15th Avenue

-- Our building is located between NE 42nd and NE 41st Street on

The
clinic has limited parking adjacent to our building.
Please refer to disability parking
information if assistance is needed. Parking is
limited in the University District. We do offer tokens
for parking in several adjacent commercial
parking lots. Please allow the necessary time for
the procurement of parking. We recommend locating the
clinic first, and then finding parking. View

Disability
parking
We
have two entrances to the clinic, which are disability
accessible:
- There
is a Passenger Loading Zone in front of the Clinic
on 15th Avenue NE with a ramp to the front disability
accessible entrance and reception area of the clinic.
- There
are 7 parking spaces behind the clinic, 2 of which
are disability parking spaces. Parking in these
spaces is on a first come, first serve basis. When
you park in one of these 7 spaces, you or your
driver must immediately obtain a UW Daily Commuter
Ticket from the clinic receptionist to display
on your dashboard. There is no charge for the use
of this permit. When you leave the clinic, the
UW Daily Commuter Ticket MUST be returned to the
receptionist*. The use of our disability parking
spaces require the display of your Washington State
Disabled Parking permit, as well as the UW Daily
Commuter Ticket*.
*
Please note, that your vehicle will be ticketed
and possibly towed if you do not display the appropriate
permits on your dashboard.

Commercial
parking lots near the clinic
When you have an appointment with us, we will
provide you with tokens for parking in Shoppers Parking
lots for a maximum of 3 hours at no charge to you. At
the time of your appointment please, park in one of the
lots listed below, then check in at our Reception Desk
for parking tokens.
- Shoppers
Parking lot, also known as the University Bookstore
parking lot: entrance on NE 43rd Street between
University Way NE and 15th Ave NE.
- Shoppers
Parking lot: there are two entrances, one off of
University Way NE by Radio Shack and another off
Brooklyn Ave NE between NE 42nd Street and NE 43rd
Street. This
lot does not have an attendant. The sign says
that you must pay before leaving your car, but
you can deposit the parking tokens provided by
the clinic when you return from your visit.

There
is limited metered parking available on streets around
the Clinic. In particular, Brooklyn Ave NE seems
to be more available for metered parking. |

Alternative
parking & shuttle service
At
your own expense, you may choose to use the UW Central
Plaza garage. The parking fee is posted at the attendant-house
in the garage. The entrance to this garage is on
15th Avenue NE at 41st Street, which is one-half
block south of the Clinic. If you need disability
accommodation and the garage sign indicates "FULL," drive
by the "FULL" sign and the garage attendant will
assign you to a disability parking place near the
entrance. Please contact the UW Parking Division
at 206-685-1553 for further information.
The
University's Dial-A-Ride service at 206-685-1511
can provide you with a ride to the clinic from any
University parking lot, but not from the commercial
non-UW lots. Call UW Dial-A-Ride directly to arrange
for this service. Please note that this service needs
at least 45 minutes advance notice to pick-up and
drop-off. Arrangements for regularly scheduled pick-up
and drop-off at preset times each week during the
academic quarter can be made through their office. |
