Entrance Requirements
Areas of Knowledge
Because coursework titles are not uniform across universities, knowledge acquired from coursework is reported to the graduate selection committee by the applicant in the following areas. There are no required courses.

Additional Coursework
Core candidates should note that there are some specific course requirements for the purposes of ASHA certification. These include a minimum of 1 course each in biological science (e.g., zoology, biology); behavioral science (e.g., psychology, sociology); physical science (e.g., physics, chemistry); and mathematics (non-remedial) or statistics. These courses must be taken outside of the field of speech and hearing sciences. Students must have received a either a "Credit" grade or have achieved a numeric grade of at least .7.We recommend that these courses be completed prior to entry into graduate school.
The Graduate Record Examination
We ask for GRE scores earned within the last five years. There is no minimum score required. If you take the GRE more than once, you may give us the scores of your “best” exam (but you can’t pick-and-choose scores across exams).
GPA
A minimum GPA of 3.0 during the last 90 quarter credit hours of study (60 semester) is required.
Bachelor's Degree with a major in
- Speech-Language Pathology (Speech and Hearing Science, Communication Disorders, or a similarly named major), or
- Other major with postbaccalaureate certification in Speech-language Pathology
