Departmental
Financial Assistance
The department usually does
not have financial assistance for first year master's
SLP and AuD students, therefore no special application
for aid is necessary. On occasion financial assistance
becomes available during autumn quarter or subsequent
quarters. If funding becomes available, we notify
all graduate students and ask interested students to
apply at that time. AuD students may also want
to review the list of possible
funding sources.
The department is usually able to fund PhD students 100%. No separate
application or paperwork is necessary.
If a student qualifies for UW Study, the department will
make every effort to employ the student. Complete information
about the Work Study Program is available at: http://www.washington.edu/students/osfa/ugaid/workstudy.html

UW Extension
Non-matriculated status is given to those
who have not been formally admitted into a UW degree
program, but who want to take credit courses to begin
working towards an undergraduate degree, to meet certification
requirements, to satisfy program prerequisites, to explore
a career change, or to study a topic for personal enrichment.
Accumulation of credits as a non-matriculated student
will not lead to a degree nor guarantee entry into a
degree program.

And Finally...
Day/night courses: Almost all courses
are offered during the day, Monday through Friday. It is
not possible to obtain a graduate degree while employed
full-time during normal working hours.
Recency: Applicants to the clinical programs
presenting prerequisite speech and hearing sciences course
work completed more than ten years prior to application to
our graduate program may be asked to provide evidence of currency
in various subject areas. Phone or in-person interviews may
be required.
Reapplicants: There is no limit to the
number of times a student may apply to the program, although
it is suggested that prospective reapplicants talk with
the Department's Academic Services Director prior to reapplying.
Graduate non-matriculated students: Individuals
who already hold a bachelor's and/or graduate degree in communication
sciences and disorders and wish to take graduate-level courses
(for continuing professional training, etc.) for graduate credit
may do so through graduate non-matriculated (GNM) enrollment.
Please contact the SPHSC Department for information and an
application.
