Our CoreSLP and MedSLP Programs
The Master's programs in Speech-Language Pathology value the importance of theory and research in curriculum and clinical practice. Students in both the CoreSLP and MedSLP programs learn to formulate and address theoretical and applied questions, utilizing the full range of informatics to improve the functions and quality of life for individuals with communication disorders across the life span. Core SLP and MedSLP curricula use empirically-driven, clinical methodologies to understand and treat communication disorders while encouraging and equipping students to participate in the growth of knowledge of the discipline.
The CoreSLP and MedSLP Master's programs study the processes and disorders of human communication. Both graduate programs seek to help students discover new ways of conceptualizing the assessment and treatment of individuals with communication disorders across the life span. Both programs promote high standards for the academic and clinical preparation of students. A student completing the CoreSLP or MedSLP program will obtain a Masters of Science degree from the University of Washington and will meet all of the academic requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
