| Your role: | You will participate once a week (or more if you choose) in the science session for one classroom. You will assist a classroom teacher in implementing science kit activities in his/her classroom. In the classroom, you will guide students through a hands-on science activity encouraging all the students to use scientific inquiry. Your role is not to be an "expert" and have answers for all of their questions, but to work with them to discover answers - and more questions! During the first quarter you will learn about working with children, about applying the scientific process to the activities and about how to encourage children in their study of science. You will become familiar with the classroom kit and review the science concepts used in the kit. Working closely with the teacher, you will perform a variety of tasks ranging from working with students during class activities to assisting with the planning. | |
