| Your role: | You will participate once a week in the after school science session at Coe. You will lead a group of students in inquiry based science activities each week. Your role is not to be an "expert" and have answers for all of their questions, but to work with them to discover the answers - and more questions! You should encourage students to think independently and intuitively about answers to questions. During the first quarter you will learn about working with children, about applying the scientific process to the activities and about how to encourage children in their study of science. You should become familiar with the planned activities before presenting them to the students. Working closely with the site supervisors, you will perform a variety of tasks ranging from working with students during after school activities to assisting with the planning. | |
