Site visits occur every other week. Times are arranged each quarter to accommodate SSL student schedules. The total transit, sampling, and analysis time is estimated at 3 hours. |

Type of class activity: |
 SSL students perform nine water quality tests during each
sampling period. Some tests are performed in the field (dissolved oxygen,
pH, temperature, conductivity, and turbidity), whereas others require
additional analysis in the laboratory (NO3-, total PO4-3, biochemical
oxygen demand, and fecal coliform). The students also sample benthic
macroinvertebrates once each quarter. Results are recorded from each
visit to maintain a long term data record. |
