Human Biology: Genetics and Your Practice
Course Description
Objectives: The participants will:
Be able to recognize different patterns of inheritance
Have an understanding of the symbols used in a pedigree, and have elementary skills in obtaining a genetic family history
Recognize resources for genetic services in Washington state, including the members of a genetics team
Understand some of the psychological and ethical issues that face families with genetic disorders at different times in the life-cycle (prenatal, newborn, pediatric, adult)
Have a basic understanding of some of the different types of genetic tests
