Through funding from the John
A. Hartford Foundation and the Council
on Social Work Education, the 2001-2004 GeroRich Program at the University
of Washington School of Social Work aimed to prepare all social work
students to work with the older adults they might come in contact
with across all areas of practice. The goals of the GeroRich Program
included:

To provide all students with basic knowledge about aging and
the diversity among older adults

To increase gerontology content and courses in the school's
curricula

To enhance opportunities for service/practice learning in gerontology

To increase the number of gerontological social work graduates

To provide faculty with educational resources in gerontology
to promote ease of infusement within existing curricula
