About Gerorich

Through funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation and the Council on Social Work Education, the 2001-2004 GeroRich Program at the University of Washington School of Social Work aimed to prepare all social work students to work with the older adults they might come in contact with across all areas of practice. The goals of the GeroRich Program included:

  1. To provide all students with basic knowledge about aging and the diversity among older adults

  2. To increase gerontology content and courses in the school's curricula

  3. To enhance opportunities for service/practice learning in gerontology

  4. To increase the number of gerontological social work graduates

  5. To provide faculty with educational resources in gerontology to promote ease of infusement within existing curricula
