Anttimo Bennett Elected to ASUW Student Body Presidency
Warm congratulations to Anttimo (Timo) Bennett, BASW senior, who won the May 15th election for the ASUW Student Body Presidency for 2008-2009! This presidency is one of the most prominent and important student leadership positions on campus.
According to its website, the purpose of student government on campus, or the Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW), is to provide services for students, advocate for student concerns, and provide employment and volunteer opportunities for students. The ASUW also reserves funds each year for allocation to student organizations for their programs.
You can read the story about Timo’s successful campaign and tearful response to the good news in The Daily: http://thedaily.washington.edu/2008/5/16/bennett-wins-asuw-presidency. This is a great honor for Timo and the School of Social Work, and we wish him great success in this vital role!
