Taryn Lindhorst Honored by American Journal of Public Health

The editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Public Health has announced that Dr. Taryn Lindhorst has been selected by the editorial team to receive the Reviewer of the Year Award for 2008. The editor cited Dr. Lindhorst as the peer reviewer “who has done the most to strengthen papers in the service of public health.”

Dr. Lindhorst has served as a peer reviewer for the Journal since 2004. In nominating her for the award, Ken McElroy, Department Editor at the Journal and Professor of Social and Behavioral Health at Texas A&M University, said, “She went beyond the call of duty in reviewing” one of our manuscripts on the public health implications of welfare reform. “Based on her initial review, I contacted Dr. Lindhorst to provide detailed comments about the manuscript, which she did. I thought her review was exceptional. Moreover, she is re-reviewing the manuscript for us, which I think will result in a dramatically improved manuscript that addresses an important topic.”

Dr. Lindhorst will be publicly recognized for her service on October 27, 2008, at a Journal outreach annual session at the American Public Health Association meeting, this year being held in San Diego.
