Welcome to Policy Watch, a more-or-less weekly bulletin about issues and events in Olympia, Washington, during the state legislative session. This bulletin was begun for people in the University of Washington School of Social Work, and thus focuses primarily on social welfare, low-income, and related health concerns before the legislature. And while it will attempt to give you enough information about these topics to guide action (calls, letters, visits), it will not take positions or urge a particular action. That is left to you.

Please note: Policy Watch does not attempt to be comprehensive. If you wish more information about a bill or issue (or to learn about bills not mentioned here) you can: check with an organization that focuses on that issue; or check with one of your legislators in Olympia.

Every Policy Watch Bulletin will have two parts: a short description of the context, followed by brief items about specific issues.
