The Application Deadline for Fall 2010
January 15, 2010
The MSW Day Program is designed as a two-year (sixquarter) full-time program of study combining classroom and field practicum work. The foundation curriculum is completed in the first year (Autumn-Winter-Spring), followed by the advanced curriculum in the second year. (Most students do not attend the Day program in Summer Quarter, with the exception of students in the Child Welfare Training and Advanced Program and some students who begin advanced practicum one quarter early.) Day students have a range of options available for the advanced curriculum, including concurrent degree programs.
Students attend classes between two and four days each week during the first year and spend two days per week at the practicum site during winter and spring quarter of the first year. Students usually take one or two days of classes and spend three days at practicum each quarter during the second year. All core classes are held during daytime hours, usually 9:30-12:20 or 1:30-4:20; electives are scheduled in day time slots as well as evenings (usually 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.) and occasionally on Saturdays. Day Program classes are taught by a mix of Statefunded and auxiliary faculty. A full range of campus and School resources is available to students during regular business hours. The tuition structure for the Day Program is explained in the “Residency, Tuition, and Fees” section.
