The Application Deadline for Fall 2010
January 15, 2010
The Master of Social Work Extended Degree Program (MSW EDP) is designed for students seeking an advanced degree in a format that can better accommodate their work schedule than a traditional day program. The MSW EDP is a 75-credit/three-year/part-time program, which can take 9-11 quarters to complete, including summers. The program is accessible to working students and students from a wider geographical area with foundation courses in the evening or weekend. Students must choose to take all foundation courses on either an evening or a weekend schedule.
On an evening schedule, courses meet one evening a week. On a weekend schedule, courses are held four weekends per quarter (Friday and Saturday). All courses are held on the UW Seattle campus.
The professional foundation is completed in six quarters and includes a 320-hour foundation practicum, usually completed over 3 quarters. The advanced curriculum is completed in four to six quarters and includes a 720-hour advanced practicum, usually completed over 5 quarters. For most full-time working EDP students, reductions and adjustments in their daytime working schedule will be necessary to complete the practicum requirements.
Please note that the EDP concentration/specialization choices, course sequencing, and schedule options may vary from year to year.
