Welcome to the Qualitative Methods Technical Support Group (QT group).

The QT Group is an informal network of Puget Sound area professionals engaged in applied research in public health and social service issues. We formed in 1997 with the goals of promoting peer consultation, sharing information, networking, and enhancing qualitative research. We meet every other month for the presentation and discussion of qualitative work by local researchers. A new feature of the QT group is our listserv to extend discussions beyond our regular meetings and to share information about job openings, journal articles, and events of interest. There are no membership requirements beyond an interest in qualitative research methods and their application and a willingness to participate in the planning and facilitation of QT meetings and events.

Who: public health professionals, social workers, anthropologists, nurses, students, and others from local universities and colleges, the Health Department, and a variety of applied settings. Meetings are open to all interested individuals.

What: presentation, discussion, and peer consultation about applied qualitative methods, research issues, and research results.

Where: the Shilshole room on the 9th floor of the Seattle-King County Public Health Department (999 Third Avenue, between Madison and Marion Streets) is reserved for all meetings from October 2003 to June 2004.

When: the third Tuesday of every other month. Meetings for 2003-2004 are October 21, December 16, February 17, April 20, and June 15, from 1:00 to 3:00

The QT group plans its yearly program in cooperation with the IQRG (International Qualitative Research Group) at the University of Washington. You can visit the IQRG website at the link to the right.
