January is a time for check-ins! Since we don’t have a class this quarter, Ben and the trainees each check-in 1-3 times to make sure there is a way to ask questions and get feedback during the class-writing process. Our instructors have 10 weeks to be ready for the start of Spring, although some of them won’t start their team teaching until a month or so after that.
It’s a challenge, but an exciting one, to fit the writing time into a Winter quarter where many of our team are also doing job interviews and finishing papers…soon to defend! The Spring teaching is going to be excellent regardless, but the more pre-writing we can do the more fun (and less stressed) the Spring will be.
In February, we’ll do some informal meetings to talk about posting Canvas courses, using UW MyPlan to give information to prospective students, recording classes with Panopto, key access to the rooms….all the little things that tend to turn teaching into more than a full time job. Hopefully we can streamline those together as well!
