Trauma Surgery
- priorities after multiple injuries: airway, breathing, circulation
- hypotension after trauma: etiologies
- work-up: airway control, spine stabilization, resuscitation, X-rays, type & cross match
- indications for and interpretations of diagnostic peritoneal lavage
- life-threatening injuries: airway obstruction, tension pneumothorax, cardiac tamponade,
- head injury (recognition, contribution to hypotension)
Will NOT be discussed/ Outside reading recommended
- fractures, urologic injuries, spleen preservation, indications for neck exploration
- use of adjunctive diagnostic/therapeutic tools - angiography, CT, contrast studies
- vascular injuries
