  • Clinical presentation of liver disease
  • Work-up of jaundice - including use of ERCP, Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography (PTC), CT scan; medical vs surgical; painful vs painless
  • Gallstones - diagnosis and treatment of colic, cholecystitis (acute and chronic), cholangitis
  • Pancreatitis - etiologies, treatment
  • Pancreatic cancer - diagnosis and treatment (stent, bypass, Whipple)
  • Liver tumors/masses - primary vs metastasis; use of ultrasound, CT and biopsy

The following topics will NOT be discussed, therefore outside reading is recommended:

  • transplantation
  • portal hypertension
  • hepatorenal syndrome
