  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm - epidemiology, indications for operation, recognition and early management of rupture
  • Peripheral arterial occlusive disease - risk factors, claudication, rest pain/tissue loss, the role of smoking, medical management, when to intervene (radiology, surgery), cardiac co-morbidity
  • Diabetic foot - neuropathy,ischemia, amputation
  • Carotid artery occlusive disease - TIA, stroke, high grade asymptomatic stenosis, when to intervene
  • Venous disease - phlebitis, varicose veins, DVT, postphlebitic syndrome
  • Acute arterial insufficiency - etiology, 6P's

The following topics will NOT be discussed, therefore outside reading is recommended:

  • vascular duplex exams (except for carotid disease)
  • Visceral arterial disease
  • Raynaud's and other non-atheroscvlerotic arterial diseases
