7.) What test would you order next? What findings in this test guide diagnosis?

A CT scan of the chest should be ordered. Findings to be noted are as follows:

  1. Presence of multiple nodules - suggests metastases or granulomatous disease

  2. Irregular, lobulated or speculated borders - suggests malignancy

  3. Calcification in the nodule that is diffuse, solid, central, and laminated suggests benign disease; stippled, amorphous, or eccentric calcification suggests malignancy
