9.) How can tissue diagnosis be obtained?

Diagnosis may be obtained in the following ways:

  1. Bronchoscopy: best for larger nodules more centrally located

  2. Transthoracic fine needle aspiration - good accuracy with high rate of complications (pneumothorax)

  3. VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery)- suitable for lesions in outer third of lung
