|
On physical examination, the skin and nails of the lower extremities may exhibit atrophic changes such as hair loss and thickened nails. The foot may be cool and may blanch on elevation. Chronic ulceration may be present. All peripheral pulses should be evaluated. Any bruits heard over the abdomen or carotid or femoral arteries should be noted.
