BURNS AND CRITICAL CARE
Case #6 -
A 52 year old man presents with a history of mild trauma

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
5.) Which imaging studies may be helpful, if any? What findings would suggest necrotizing infection?

A plain X-ray may show gas in the soft tissue. A CT scan will better define the extent of infection but should not delay operative treatment. An MRI does not add to this except in deep muscle necrosis.
