6.) If you suspect a necrotizing soft tissue infection, what should you do?

If a necrotizing soft tissue infection is suspected, diagnosis and treatment is urgent. Under local anesthesia, a 2 cm incision down to fascia should be made in the affected area. Necrotic tissue, lack of bleeding, and foul dishwater fluid are all ominous signs. A finger inserted into such a wound will easily push tissue away along the fascial plane and this is sometimes called the finger test.
