Registration for the following courses requires BOTH of the following:

SURGERY 498 - Undergraduate Thesis
  • Offered to those students who have engaged in undergraduate research in general surgery
SURGERY 499 - Undergraduate Research
  • Provides an opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects or carry out an independent research project under supervision of department of surgery faculty. Practical experience in experimental design and execution is provided under direct supervision of selected faculty members.
SURGERY 505 - Preceptorship in Surgery
  • Opportunity for medical students to gain personal experience with clinical faculty members in the community. Students observe general aspects of private practice including: routine clinical problems, practice limitations, doctor/doctor - doctor/patient - doctor/nurse relationships in the office and/or hospital setting.
Please note: this course is offerred to FIRST and SECOND year medical students only

  • Do you have a particular subspecialty interest?
Some sites require you to complete paperwork before beginning your preceptorship. If the site/office in which you will be working is listed below, please complete all cooresponding forms to take with you on the first day of your rotation.
SURGERY 600 - Graduate/Professional Research
  • Provides an opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects or carry out an independent research project under supervision of department of surgery faculty. Practical experience in experimental design and execution is provided under direct supervision of selected faculty members.
