This workshop—intended for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty—introduces the process of publishing your scholarly monograph in today’s challenging information marketplace. You will learn what publishers want from authors and how you can prepare a proposal and manuscript that will interest an acquisitions editor, please peer reviewers, and successfully navigate the copyediting and production process.

The Graduate School is seeking an hourly student assistant (undergraduate or graduate) to work 4-6 hours each day assisting with light administrative support including reception and telephone answering for one hour each day over the lunch period, and miscellaneous office work which may include: archiving files, proofreading, entering data in databases, copying, updating files, making labels, assembling notebook materials, summarizing evaluations from events, running errands on campus, preparing mailing materials, etc. In addition, the student occasionally may be called upon to assist at Graduate School special events as needed.

Job Description:

The Deliverability Team at WhatCounts is responsible for helping businesses get their mission-critical marketing, transactional, and triggered email delivered to Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The Deliverability Specialist assists the Sr. Deliverability Manager and WhatCounts Client Services Teams by performing investigation and troubleshooting work to help diagnose deliverability problems.

This is a part-time, entry-level intern/contract position reporting to the Sr. Deliverability Manager. 20 hours per week estimated; could increase. It is expected that the selected candidate will work on-site at WhatCounts’ headquarters in Seattle’s International District. Training will be provided by WhatCounts.

Looking for funding to support your Graduate School tuition or thesis? Need to find support to attend a conference or seminar?

Interested in studying or doing research abroad? Getting ready to apply to Graduate School for the first time?

The Grants and Funding Information Service (GFIS) offers quarterly workshops free of charge to UW graduate students and applicants to UW graduate departments covering methods of searching for funding available outside the university.

Workshop #1: Introduction to Searching covers general principles of searching for funding, print resources, campus resources and the Internet, in a lecture format.

Workshop #2: Database Searching covers the intricacies of two funding databases, COS and Grant Select, in a hands-on computer lab experience.
