Overview Project Examples Start Working With UW TechTransfer’s Digital Ventures Group Digital Ventures’ Areas of Expertise

UW TechTransfer’s Digital Ventures unit specializes in facilitating the transfer of digital innovations—software, content, and digital works—from classrooms and labs to external users in the public and private sector.

Types of projects supported by the Digital Ventures unit

Whether you are writing software; creating websites; making CD-ROMs and DVDs; providing access to web-based services; creating images, training materials, or forms; writing manuals or publications in a variety of formats; or developing databases as repositories for data and information resources, an experienced professional within UW TechTransfer’s Digital Ventures unit will help you navigate the distribution and intellectual property issues.

How Digital Ventures works with you

We partner with you to: 1) create a dissemination strategy that fits your goals; 2) establish and maintain relationships with external users that move your goals forward; and 3) develop project resources that help consolidate and advance your innovation. We work with you to learn what you want to accomplish and how you want to see your innovation shared, and then select appropriate resources and strategies for intellectual property management to meet your goals as well as the teaching, research, and public service missions of the University of Washington.

It's about you and your team.  A “one size fits all” approach does not recognize the different expectations, cultures, and goals of UW researchers and scholars. Our practice is flexible, and we manage innovation adaptively as it is brought into use.
