To look good when you're being observed: Tell all the students to raise their hand when you start asking questions. If they know the answer, raise their right hand. If they don't, raise their left hand. Obviously, you'll only call on those with their right hand raised. The more enthusiastic the hand-raising, the better. If everyone raises their left hand, simply say, "Well, I guess that question was too easy. Here's another one." When the principal/observer mentions how enthusiastic and participatory the students were, shrug humbly and say something about how you seem to be able to "really connect with the students."
