Program Director Abigail Halperin Program Director
Dr. Abigail Halperin founded the UW Tobacco Studies Program in 2002 and continues to lead as its Program Director. Dr. Halperin has been Principal Investigator, Co-investigator, and Consultant on local, national, and international research and development projects related to tobacco prevention, treatment, and policy, and is a leader in the field. Dr. Halperin received a Medical Degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, completed residency training in Family Medicine at Seattle's Swedish Hospital, and earned her Master of Public Health degree at the UW.

Program Coordinator Patricia Atwater Program Coordinator
Patricia Atwater joined the Tobacco Studies Program staff in June 2013. She attended the UW School of Public Health Community-Oriented Public Health Practice Program (COPHP) MPH program. A former smoker, Atwater is interested in tobacco disparities, particularly in the LGBTQ+ population.

Research Assistant Nick Fradkin Research Assistant
Nick Fradkin joined the Tobacco Studies Program staff in September 2014. He is concurrently enrolled at the UW School of Public Health and the Evans School of Public Affairs. Fradkin is primarily interested in tobacco control research and evaluation.
