TRAC-UWPuget Sound Freeway and HOV Performance Statistics
Directions to I-5 North and South Sites: I-5 @ 112th
SE - Everett (near Everett) From I-5 northbound, take the exit for 128th Street SW. Turn left at the stoplight, cross over the freeway, and turn right at the first stoplight at 4th Avenue West. Go north for a couple of miles, until you come to 112th St. SE, and turn right. Go east for about a mile. Just before you reach the overpass turn left into the paved entrance to the maintenance road for the Inter-Urban Trail. Park on the right side of the paving, Don’t block access to the service road. Take your chair and equipment and walk onto the sidewalk of the overpass. Set up your chairs on the sidewalk where you have good lane visibility for ether northbound or southbound traffic as assigned. Due to personal safety issues do not sit below the overpass to collect data. Wear safety vests at all times. Note: For Southbound Lanes: Count the traffic from the Rest Area/Washington State Patrol office on/ramp entering the freeway at this location as Lane #1 traffic. From the office get onto I-5 Northbound and drive to Exit #175 which is the N 145th St off-ramp. To count Northbound I-5 traffic, go north on 5th Ave NE across N 145th St. Just past the I-5 Northbound On-ramp there is a Metro ParknRide on the left side of the street. Find a place to park in the ParknRide. Remove chairs and data collection equipment from the car and walk south on the sidewalk to the Metro riders’ pedestrian ramp that takes you under the N 145th St overpass. Set up your chair on the sidewalk in such a way that will allow bus riders to safely walk past you. To count Southbound traffic, after exiting the freeway. turn left onto N 145th St., cross over the overpass and park in the chiropractic clinic parking lot. Remove chairs and data collection equipment from the car and walk back to the overpass and then down the stairs, or the ramp, to the Metro rider pedestrian path that takes you under the N 145th St overpass. Set up your chair on the sidewalk in a way that will allow bus riders to safely walk past you. Count occupants in southbound lanes heading toward downtown Seattle. Traffic noise is very loud here. Wear earplugs to prevent your hearing loss when sitting under the over pass. This drive is approximately 24 minutes. 1. Enter the southbound lanes of I-5
at NE 45th St. Go south for about 13 miles Wear safety vests at all times. I-5 @ S 216th St: From the office, enter I-5 Southbound
at NE 45th St. From I-5 southbound, take Exit 151,
200th St.There is a traffic light at the end of the
off-ramp. Turn left at the stoplight onto Military
Road, cross over the mainline and continue south.
After about 3/4 mile, turn right at the stoplight
at S. 216th. Find a place to park on the south side
of the street at the east end of the overcrossing.
In the mornings, count Northbound traffic. In the
afternoons, count Southbound traffic. 1. From the office drive to the Southbound
