Directions to I-90 Sites:I-90 @ 35th Ave
S (Reversible lanes by Mt Baker Tunnel) From I-5 southbound, take the Dearborn Street exit. Turn left at the stoplight and go about half a mile to the stoplight at Rainier Avenue South. Turn left, then turn right after a few blocks on Jackson Street. Follow Jackson until it ends, and turn right on 31st Avenue South. After a couple blocks turn left on Lane Street, then right on 33rd Avenue South, then left again on Charles Street. Turn right on Lake Washington Blvd, and then left on Irving Street, just before the little park and bike path on the tunnel lid. Go downhill a block and find a place to park where Irving ends at 35th Avenue South. Walk out on the bike path to the edge of the freeway, and sit at the end of the retaining wall. Or, find a location in the shrubbery over the freeway lanes. Note: You will have to look across several lanes of traffic in order to see license plates in the fast and HOV lanes at this location. To count I-90 center roadway, go to west end of bridge in AM, east end of bridge in PM. This locates the counters on the right side of traffic, which is best for looking at number of passengers in vehicles. Drop ramp counts at East Mercer Way to compensate work load. Going east on I-90 from Seattle, cross Lake Washington and go under the Mercer Island lid, take exit, #7-A, 76th Avenue SE. Turn left, go to the next stoplight and turn right. Drive to Mercer Island Park-n-Ride and par the car. To count Mainline AVO Westbound, walk to east side of the Island Crest overpass and sit near the rail in the area where the shrubbery is trimmed back. To count the Eastbound Mainline AVO walk to the south side of the Island Crest overpass, make a right turn and place your chair near the rail on the sidewalk area. Wear your safety vest at all times. Go east on I-90 past the Eastgate area
of Bellevue. Wear your safety vest at all times. Questions? Contact Sharon Capers by clicking here
