- Q: What are the goals of this workshop?
- The goals of this workshop are to determine key issues in Washington State related to tribal fish consumption rates, discuss relevant studies, to share lessons learned for the Pacific Northwest and consider related issues and identify opportunities in the Pacific Northwest.
- Q: When is the workshop?
- The workshop starts on the morning of Tuesday August 12th, lasts a full day and includes an evening poster reception. The workshop sessions will begin with coffee and refreshments. The workshop will conclude on August 13th, mid-afternoon.
- Q: Where will this workshop be held?
- At the South Campus Center at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Please refer to the map, which shows how to get there.
- Q: Will food be provided during the workshop?
- On the first day of the workshop, coffee with refreshments, lunch, afternoon snacks, and early evening hors d’oeuvres will be served. The second day of the workshop will consist of coffee with refreshments and a lunch.
- Q: How do I register and pay the registration fee?
- Please follow the link to “Instructions for Registration”. Registration payment is handled by another group at the University. The registration page will lead you to their website where you fill out the registration information. Then you will be asked to either call with a credit card number or mail a check. Please register early as space is limited.
- Q: What is the cancelation policy?
- There will be no refund for a cancellation. Please contact us at tribalws@u.washington.edu or visit the DEOHS Continuing Education website, if you have any questions regarding cancellation.
- Q: What if I cannot afford the registration fee and/or my travel costs?
- There are a limited number of fellowships available to those who need financial support. Please contact tribalws@u.washington.edu by 5pm on July 29th because availability is limited.
- Q: Will I get continuing education or academic credit by attending this workshop?
- Professional credit is available for industrial hygienists, environmental health professionals, and safety professionals if requested in advance. An Independent Study college credit from the University of Washington is also available for qualified students. Please note additional fees are required by the University. Please email tribalws@u.washington.edu if you would like to receive continuing education credits and would like to verify if you qualify.
- Q: What is NOT included in the registration fee?
- Parking costs are NOT covered by the registration. Parking is $15.00 per day. Housing costs are NOT covered. You may choose to stay in a University dorm or in a hotel (see recommendations).
- Q: Where can I stay?
- We have reserved lodging space at dorms on campus, which is about a 15-20 minute walk to the workshop site. However, space is very limited. Please email us with inquiries about the dorm. If you prefer to stay at a hotel, please make your own arrangements. There are a number of hotels within walking distance from the workshop site. Information on additional lodging is available at our “Visiting Seattle” section.
For participants who will be staying at the dorms, bedding, towels, soap, and drinking cups will be provided. Please bring items you may need to accommodate your overnight stay.
