Dr. Earl V. Farrow Awards
We are proud to announce the Farrow Awards, which offers awards to TRIO Quest’s Top National TRIO Students.
Dr. Earl V. Farrow first graduated from Florida A&M University, completed his Ed.D. at Rutgers University , and retired in Pensacola, FL. He directed TRIO programs for thirty years, was a professor at Rutgers, and a trainer for SAEOPP, NCEOA (COE), and the University of Washington. He was co-chair of the first NCEOA (COE) Technology Committee and received its Walter Mason, Jr. award. He is a founding member of TRIO Quest.
The Farrow Awards are designed to encourage and support students as they pursue their educational dreams. This may include travel for educational purposes, scholarships, or other academic support.
- The Farrow TRIO Quest Award
The TRIO Quest award is given to Best of Contest winners – the team of students who is judged to have created the best educational web site; the Media Quest Challenge winners – those individuals who have created the best media project; and the PhotoEssay winners – those students who created the best photographically-themed essay project. NEW for 2008: $100 will be awarded to every Best of Contest winner in each TRIO Quest activity.

---An exciting leadership opportunity for Gold Awardees from all TRIO Quest activities
Every Gold winner from any TRIO Quest Activity (TRIO ThinkQuest, PhotoEssay, and MediaQuest) can apply for the Earl Farrow Fellowship. Each student selected will serve as a Student Consultant on a National Technology Team and will play an important training role for TRIO staff as well as other TRIO students. The leadership roles of the Student Consultant include:- Presenting at a national, regional, or state conference (travel support provided)
- Consulting with TRIO staff and students on technology trends and implementation
- Collaborating with other Fellows to create a year-end summary of recommendations
This is an exciting opportunity – one that will develop 21st century job skills as well as provide excellent references for applications, scholarships, and job searches.
To Apply for the Earl Farrow Fellowship:
All Gold Awardees from all TRIO activities (TRIO ThinkQuest, PhotoEssay, and MediaQuest) can apply. In order to prepare beforehand, a DRAFT Application will be available for viewing soon. - The Farrow Educational/Academic Support Award
This award is given to individual students or to programs for student support. The award might include materials needed for projects, travel, fees and other services. The award requires the submission of an application and it is limited to $500. Applicants can submit these requests at any time. Awards will be given quarterly. The Farrow Awards committee will make the final determination.
