Media Quest Rubric 2008: Good Media Quest Elements

The following questions are for use as a guide only; use it as a guide to develop good elements within a Media Quest entry.

Ask yourself the following questions and adjust accordingly:

1. Theme or Focus

Does the entry have a clear theme or focus which is well-developed? Is the theme or focus appropriate for the intended audience?

2. Originality – Creativity & Presentation
Does the entry contain original work/items? Is the entry is well developed around the theme or focus? Are the design and presentation elements exceptional? Does the entry maximize multimedia presentation elements that are suited to the theme or focus (i.e., text, audio, video, animation, outside links, etc.)?

3. Intellectual Honesty & Attribution – Any portion of the entry that does not meet Fair Use standards or is not intellectually honest will be disqualified from the competition. Please review Media Quest Student Guidelines for Fair Use below.

  • Is all work by others properly cited?
  • Are Fair Use standards properly applied; i.e., any motion media, text, music, photos, etc. that is not created by the student(s)?

OR

  • Is all work original (music, text, audio, etc., and cited accordingly (therefore, Fair Use standards do not apply)?

4. Media Quality

Is the type of media used effective in advancing the focus or theme of the entry? Is the technical quality of the entry exceptional (e.g., sound, video, flash, etc.)? Are the performance and/or artistic composition exceptional? Is the editing exceptional (e.g., smooth transitions, no mistakes)?
