MediaQuest

Overview

Today’s technology provides a myriad of media options to improve instruction and expand learning capabilities. TRIO staff and students need to explore and utilize multimedia tools in order to excel in 21st Century education and employment opportunities. Media Quest, a new program and free for all TRIO program’s students, is designed to meet this need.

Media Quest provides exciting, challenging, and creative activities for all TRIO students. They are:

audioAudio Challenge - A structured web-based audio project which allows student creativity and/or innovation in addressing a specific theme or focus (see categories); it is uploaded through a provided online tool.

videoVideo Challenge - A structured web-based video project which allows student creativity and/or innovation in addressing a specific theme or focus (see categories); it is uploaded through a provided online tool.

These opportunities promote the creative and educational use of multimedia and they provide an effective way to:

  • Find and use cost effective multimedia tools
  • Understand intellectual honesty including citation and permission for other people’s work
  • Use multimedia for creative purposes, to present information, and/or to support the presentation of research
  • Understand their audience and responsibly produce material that allows effective communication with diverse groups

Goals

  • MediaQuest allows students, with staff support, to explore and understand 21st Century media tools in which to create a media product that illustrates their creative and/or innovative ideas and expressions.
  • MediaQuest allows the opportunity for students to make-an-impression with their creative and/or innovative media skills.
  • MediaQuest allows students to win awards and/or to use their activity in resumes, applications, and/or college admissions.
