Recuva

TrueCrypt

A free application for Windows, Mac, and Linux that lets you encrypt an entire drive or just a portion of it. Audacity

Free and very powerful open source software for recording and editing audio on Macs, PCs, and Linux computers. You will also need to download the “LAME MP3 encoder” if you want to export MP3s.

VLC Media Player

A free audio and video player for Windows, Mac, and Linux that works works with a huge variety of media formats. It can also stream live audio and video and convert between some media formats.

Picasa

Google software for importing photos from your digital camera and viewing, managing and editing them. Integrates with Picasa Web Albums to allow for online photo sharing.
