TVG Open House 2008

~ Explore how your immune system can fight cancer ~

On a beautiful October evening, the Tumor Vaccine Group hosted its second annual Open House at the newly-opened South Lake Union campus. This year’s Open House showcased the TVG’s exploration of how the immune system can fight cancer. With over 70 people in attendance, ranging from physicians and scientists to patients and family members, the Open House was a great success! The evening was filled with opportunities for attendees to visit our laboratory, talk with local advocacy groups, and address questions directly to the faculty and staff of the Tumor Vaccine Group. A formal presentation was given by Dr. Nora Disis and Dr. Kathy Tietje discussing the range of our research, from vaccine development to cancer diagnostics to clinical trials. Following the presentation, the floor was opened up to a panel discussion that consisted of three TVG members and two patients. This was a fantastic opportunity to hear first-hand about the process and course of clinical trials from our physicians’ and patients’ perspectives. The evening was filled with wonderful insights, questions, and dialogue about the TVG’s research and continued efforts to fight cancer through immune therapies. We look forward to opening our doors again in the fall of 2009!
