The key focus of this funding is to enable researchers to progress their scientific findings from the bench to the bedside, which is a driving force of the TVG. October 2009 Proclaimed Breast Cancer Awareness Month by Governor Gregoire |

| On March 8th the Tumor Vaccine Group and the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Foundation met with Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire to witness the signing of a new proclamation. This October will mark Washington's fourth annual observance of IBC Awareness Month. The proclamation is sponsored by the Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) Foundation, which promotes awareness of IBC and advocates the importance of early detection, proper diagnosis, and advances in IBC research and treatment. Faculty at the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center were noted as leaders in the field of IBC research and clinical care through their development of vaccines and new treatments for the disease. |

| On January 21st, Cherie Meyers from Safeway, Inc. presented Dr. Salazar with a gracious donation as part of their continued support in the area of breast cancer research. Dr. Salazar was awarded with $75,000 for her research investigating immune therapy strategies for breast cancer.
