Welcome to Upwardbound's Maintenance

Maintaining your computer can extend the amount of time it's good for. There are ways you are able to make your computer a fun place to come to. There are many things that your computer can do for itself, but there are also a few things that could go wrong if you are not careful.

One thing that is hazardous to your computer is water. If water seeps into your monitor, your computer will short circuit, and you will be out of luck. You may have a chance if your keyboard has water leaking into it. If that happens, you will want to turn your computer over and shake as much water out as possible. After it's been on turned over for a day, it should work.

If you are a person that has no extra time to take care of your computer, you can program it to do certain things on a regular basis. For example, if you are mostly on the computer the time that you are home, you can have your computer check for virus while you are gone, or while you're sleep.

It's very simple to set up a scheduled task. What you would want to do first is go to My Computer and double-click on the folder reading Scheduled Task. It should be all down hill from there. You can program it to run as frequently as you would like, during any time of the day.

Now that you've read about all the boring ways of taking care of your computer, here comes the fun stuff. Part of taking care of your computer includes creating your own desktop theme, making a folder for your favorite programs etc.

To get started on creating an exciting place, you might want to have a desktop theme. Open your control panel and there should be a folder that says Desktop Themes. Click the folder and you are read to go. Once you are in that folder, you can change your computer to fit your style. Once you are done, be sure to click ok and you are done.

I hope you all have fun with your computer and are able to create a more independent computer that fits your style. Enjoy your computer and remember, you can always go backand change your settings.
