Troubleshooting

Things can never go smoothly with computers, so we need to know what to do when there's a problem. And the trouble-shooting lab taught us that.

One of the most common cause of computer malfunction is overheat. In the lab, we learned how we can check the CPU temperature, and what's it's optimal temperature. We learned that by going to the Bios setup we can check the fan rotation speed, CPU temperature which is crucial in CPU overheat prevention.

We also learned that when there's a hardware problem, it could be caused by many problems, but most of the time, these problems are easy to solve. Let the hard drive be an example, when we turn on the computer and it says hard disk error, it could mean that we didn't install the operating system yet, or we didn't setup the hard drive in BIOS correctly or we didn't plug in the cables correctly.

The lab also taught us what to do incase of a driver problem. We learned that by going to Control Panel in Windows 98, then go to system we can find out which hardware has problems. And we can fix these problems by updating drivers which we can do by selecting the exclamation marked or checked flag marked hardware then clicking on the properties button.

And that's what we did.
