Getting Started in Goldwave for Audio

In this part of the lab, we will open a sound and show you how to play it. You are on your own to discover what you can do with this program to change the sound. Save your changes and insert your new sound into your web page.

To play a sound:
1) Choose Open from the File menu.
2) Select the file Desktop/Lab 6/Carbrake.wav to play.
3) Choose the Open button. The Sound window is now shown.
4) Choose the Play button on the Device Controls window.

To play part of a sound:
1) Open the sound, as above.
2) Use the left and right mouse buttons to move the start and finish markers to select the part of the sound you want to play.
3) Choose the play button on the Device Controls window.

To quickly select the entire sound again, use Edit | Select All.

To loop part of a sound:
1) Open the sound, as above.
2) Move the start and finish markers to the part of the sound you want to loop.
3) Choose the setup (dot and checkmark) button on the Device Controls window, then choose the Play tab.
4) In the User play button group, choose the Selection option, check the Loop box, set the number of loops, and choose OK.
5) Choose the (user play) button on the Device Controls window.
