During the school year, students take classes to improve their SAT scores and work on applications for both college and financial aid. Upward Bound also provides after school tutoring and a special Math/Science class. Staff members regularly meet individually with students, especially the seniors.

During the summer, Upward Bound conducts an intensive 6-week program on the University of Washington Campus. Students attend a special Lecture Class taught by University faculty, and take Language Arts, Math, Science, and Elective Classes. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. with a 50 minute lunch break. The students go on Field Trips each Friday. Taking classes on campus enables the students to experience "college life" while taking preparatory classes for high school credits. The program pays a stipend, a lunch allowance and transportation costs.

High School Credits Summer classes and classes offered during the school year are for graded high school credit and appear on the student’s transcript. Students earn .25 or .50 credits for each class depending on the class and number of contact hours.
